Dependence; The state of relying on someone else.
Today, to be honest, I felt this deep sadness in my heart. A longing. A NEED for something. It was this feeling like no other. I knew it wasn’t a need for anything earthly. This feeling didn’t have anything to do with my day because I genuinely had such an amazing day spending time with family and friends. This feeling didn’t have anything to do with anything anyone had said, and it didn’t have anything to do with overthinking. This feeling was like a deep call from the Lord of Lords. It felt like Jesus was saying “My daughter, come and spend time with your Father..”
So I did just that. It was so beautiful. It fulfilled me. Just 15 minutes with my Heavenly Father, singing to Him. Being with Him. Falling deeper in love with Him.
You see, I was made to DEPEND on Jesus. We all were.
Let’s go back to the story of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.
Genesis 1:27- So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
I love how it mentions not only once, but twice that we were made in God’s image!
And look at this verse.
“And I will walk among you and will be your God, and you shall be my people”
(Leviticus 26:12)
Guys. God didn’t create us to be without Him. God didn’t create us to live in loneliness. God didn’t create us to ever be apart from Him. Cause He loves you. He loves you SO much. More than you could ever possibly know.
God wants to be with you.
One name that God has that you’ve probably heard is “Immanuel.” It translates into english as the words “God with us.”
This is what they prophesied Jesus as in the book of Isaiah. All throughout scripture, God wants us to know that He wants to be with us!! He doesn’t want to be apart or distant from us. And He isn’t. Even if you have walked away from Him, God is still by your side. He will never leave you, and that is a promise. (Deuteronomy 31:6) There is NOTHING you can do that will ever be able to separate you from God’s love. (Romans 8:30-39)
There is nothing you can do that would make God love you any more or any less.
He loves you the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever.
So I want to challenge myself today, and also you beautiful people.
Are you depending on God? Are you putting Him first?
Because God is the only one that can totally fulfill us. No amount of money, drugs, alcohol, boyfriends, girlfriends, friends, makeup or etc will EVER be able to fulfill us like God does!
Why??
Because God created us to be in relationship with Him. We are MADE in His image. Therefore, there is nothing that will ever complete you except Jesus. Have you noticed that when you are feeling down and you run to something other than God, you continue to feel down? Have you noticed that when we run to bad things they may feel good for a little while and they might make our lives seem better for a second, but it never lasts that way? It’s because these things aren’t eternal. They aren’t perfect. They aren’t everlasting.
When I was growing up, I always felt this hole in my heart. Like something was missing. Like I wasn’t fully complete. I turned to other things like makeup to try and fulfill me and make me whole, but this never worked. I always felt so incomplete. I wonder if you feel like this…
This feeling finally went away when I was introduced to Jesus. The hole was filled. I finally felt whole. I finally felt complete and fully alive. No feeling can compare to how amazing it felt. To finally accept my Creator into my heart. The one I was MADE to be with.
We can sometimes turn to these things to feel complete. We feel like we have to have these things to be fully fulfilled. But that is a complete lie! Some of the things I mentioned are good things! But sometimes they can become idols that cloud our dependence on God.
We are already complete! Because we have the King of Kings living inside of us.
What a blessing that is.
Have you welcomed Him in? Do you finally want to feel complete? Are you longing for something higher? Something that would finally fulfill you like no other? Have you gone away for a while and want to come back?
Run into His arms. He is waiting for you with an abundant, beautiful, everlasting love that will never run dry. Ever. He has His arms wide open. No matter what you have done, no matter how long you have been against Him, no matter how broken you feel, no matter how ashamed you feel, no matter how dirty you feel, no matter how unworthy you feel, no matter WHAT. God loves you. He loves you SO much.
Do you want to accept this today?
I love you all.
