The LIGHT in the darkness.

Hello you beautiful children of God.

Today I wanted to talk about something that hits close to home for every single one of us. The valleys. The hardships. But how we can overcome those with Jesus. He is the light.

We are always going through something. There is always something that is at the back of our mind or bothering us. Something that if we give it too much control, can end up destroying us and taking us into a black hole of darkness.

Thats what the enemy wants. he wants us to focus SO much on our problems that we forget the promise. he wants us to get SO sucked into the bad that is happening in our lives that we forget the good that is also happening. he wants us to stay in the darkness so that we lose sight of the light.

Do NOT give him that control.

I have to admit, I have sometimes given the enemy more control than I ever should have. Sometimes I have taken my eyes off the light and drifted into the darkness.

But you know what? Darkness cannot hide the light. Because that light is JESUS. And He shines too bright to EVER be hidden by the darkness. In fact the darkness has already been exposed by His glorious light! What a truth that we should be rejoicing in!!

Guys, we are already FREE! We are free from darkness! We are free from death! We are free from the enemy! We just need to live like we are free. Do you feel free?

John 8:36- So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

I love how that verse is just so direct. It says, “if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” It doesn’t say we might be free, or we have to work for our freedom. It says we are FREE! Every single day, the enemy will want to tell us that we aren’t free. But we have to fight back with the word of God, and that says that we are free indeed!!!!

One thing me and my boyfriend Jonathan like to do is call the enemy out. When we feel like he is getting to us or speaking lies over us, we like to say out loud “I rebuke you satan in the name of Jesus Christ!”

James 4:7- Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Even just speaking the name of Jesus makes the enemy flee. Thats what Jesus did when He was tempted by the enemy. He spoke the name of His father.  Jesus has already won the victory over sin and death and the enemy. We just need to submit to Him and He will fight for us.

Another thing that brings SO much power is proclaiming the word of God to the enemy. When Jesus was tempted by the enemy, He spoke scripture to him, and he had to leave. God’s word is the sword of the Spirit. It is living and breathing and BOY is it powerful! (Matthew 4:3-11)

If you feel a lie come into your mind, speak truth from God’s over yourself and then the lie cannot have any power anymore because God is greater!

This is something I want to get better at, because the enemy is constantly trying to make us believe lies, but Jesus wants us to remember His truth and to be submerged in it. He wants us to go so deep into His word that when a lie enters our head, we can quickly respond with the truth from God’s word. That is my goal.

Be encouraged that the Lord is on your side and He is always fighting for you. Surrender to Him and He will fight off the lies. He will fight off your pain. He will fight off your depression and anxiety. He will encircle you with His love. Because God is love. He wants you to live in the fullness of life that He originally created.

Let’s step into His love and finally live free like He intended us to. What a great Saviour we serve.

Remember these lyrics from the powerful song “reckless love.”

“Theres no shadow you won’t light up, no mountain you won’t climb up coming after me.”

The Lord is ALWAYS faithful to fight for you. He leaves the 99 for you. He climbs up that mountain for you every day. He died so that you could live. You are so so so precious to Him. Guys you are so loved. Lean into that today.

Hebrews 10:23- Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

John 1:5- The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
